Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic Explained
Dr. Jeremy explains chiropractic to a new patient as “24 bones stacked on top of the pelvis. The spine, as a unit, has a lot of movement, so each bone should have movement as well. Chiropractic makes sure all the bones are stacked relevant to the midline—that’s alignment, and makes sure bones are open and mobile, with some wiggle room.
If one of the bones is stuck out of position, I won’t feel the movement, because it’s no longer in a good spot. If movement is restricted, joints seize up. The nerves run between the bones, and the bone pushes on the nerve, compressing it. When the nerve gets irritated, tissue starts to get sensitized, resulting in pain.
Adjustment uses force to open up the joint, move it to the proper position, take pressure off the nerve, and allow the bone to contribute properly to movement so the joint stays healthy.”
A Different Approach
Communication and education are important parts of our process. Dr. Jeremy takes a step-by-step approach to care, explaining everything from start to finish. As he performs the adjustment, he’ll remind patients the area might be a little tender.
“Pre-loading”, helps patients get comfortable with the procedure before actually applying pressure. After checking for the movement he wants, he’ll move on and adjust other areas as part of our holistic approach to care.
